Robby and I ventured off Friday night to Entebbe, Uganda through Amsterdam and Kigali, Rwanda. After about 25 hours of transit we made it to Uganda where a driver was waiting for us to take us to the hotel. Let me just say, wildest drive I’ve ever taken part in. On the roads of Uganda, there are no rules.
Yesterday morning, I got up for breakfast and met the rest of the volunteers whom where starting the same week. They are all great people and come from all over the world! We have volunteers from the US, Canada, England, and Australia. Because we had a whole day until our orientation and placement, our trip coordinator planned a day to visit the city of Jinja, where we ended up at a cultural festival. In Jinja, we went to the Nile River gardens. I learned that the Nile comes all the way to Lake Victoria. Driving around, there are so many people just standing around and visiting with each other. I'm getting really excited to start working.
